Trips to the hospital are almost never fun, but the search for a parking spot once you get there can make a lousy trip worse. As if a general shortage of parking spaces at area hospitals isn't bad enough, construction projects at four major facilities in Sacramento have complicated parking for hospital patients, staff and visitors alike.
Now five local hospitals are offering a valet service, the kind typically enjoyed by well-heeled restaurant visitors and theatergoers – only without the need to tip. The moves may have as much to do about marketing as they are a response to construction-induced parking nightmares.
